We’re Ready When You Are: A New Kind Of Summer At The Fairmont Miramar

It’s been a long road back, but after months of waiting, wishing, and planning, the time has finally arrived. All of us at the Fairmont Miramar are thrilled to have officially reopened our doors, kicking off a new kind of summer with relaxation, space, and safety front of mind.

Nestled on 5 acres across from the Pacific Ocean, our spacious property features abundant open-air spaces that are ideally suited to promote continued social distancing, as well as extensively updated health protocols for the protection of guests and team members alike.

Exceeding the highest CDC standards and integrating Accor’s ALL Stay Well Guidelines (which were developed in collaboration with Johns Hopkins senior scholar and infectious disease expert Dr. Amesh Adalja), we’ve established ways to increase safety within every step of the guest experience — and we think you’ll be impressed.

Health & Safety Measures at the Fairmont Miramar

Arrival, Check-In, and Check-Out

Our new health and safety measures are evident from the moment you step onto our rejuvenating Southern California property. Friendly greeters (wearing masks) will welcome you and direct you toward one of our Wellness Check Stations (which will include temperature checks), as well as manage any queues to ensure social distancing, protecting the safety of guests and team members alike. In addition, all team members will wear masks throughout the property.

There are two safe options for check-in: Guests can retrieve their disinfected keys from the front desk (complete with glass partitions), which will shift to low- or no-touch payment, where you’ll also receive a wellness kit including amenities such as masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes.

Alternatively, beginning this week, you may take advantage of our innovative keyless check-in option by using your mobile device to access your accommodations (powered by the Intelity app). The check-out process is equally as seamless, and guests can opt for contactless check out via email, text, telephone or television.

Guestrooms

In your guestroom, suite, or bungalow (which feature their own private, open-air entrance through our beautiful gardens), you can request amenities such as tea and coffee makers, minibar items, pens and stationery, print magazines, and alarm clocks, which are disinfected or replaced between each use.

You can also rest assured (literally) knowing we have a 48-hour “resting period” between guest stays, with thorough cleaning and disinfection utilizing our EPA-registered chemicals proven to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in between. During your stay, members of our housekeeping team are equipped with PPE as they disinfect your room (and masks and gloves are discarded between rooms), and we’ll pay special attention to high-touch items during cleaning protocols. Guests will vacate the room during this process, and the hotel can arrange for your room to be serviced while you’re dining at FIG Restaurant or lounging poolside.

Common Areas

Our common areas, including restrooms, elevators, and lobby areas, will be disinfected frequently (and transparently) with the aforementioned EPA-registered chemicals, also with a focus on high-touch and high-volume areas. Guests will find hand sanitizing stations and antibacterial soap throughout the property as well.

Our coffee and water station has been removed for now, but bottled water is readily available at the front desk, and guests are invited to indulge in their morning caffeine fix at our on-property Dogtown Coffee. Elevators will include signage indicating maximum occupancy, and our newly renovated lobby area has been rearranged to facilitate physical distancing as well.

What to Do in Santa Monica in Summer 2020

Fairmont Miramar - Resort Pools

From a walk along the sands of Santa Monica Beach to taking in a Pacific sunset in the Miramar Gardens or on the Sunset Terrace, there are endless opportunities to make new summer memories during a stay at the Fairmont Miramar, even with these new safety measures in place.

For starters, no summer is complete without a day at the pool. Unwind with a good book next to our sparkling outdoor centerpiece or take a dip to cool down under the warm SoCal sun — the choice is yours. (We recommend both.) In addition to increased cleaning frequency, lounge chairs and umbrellas are positioned at a minimum of six feet apart and disinfected between uses, and masks are worn by attendants providing towels to ensure you can fully relax with peace of mind.

You may also retreat to the Miramar Beach Club on Santa Monica Beach for a private day of fun in the sand (available Friday through Sunday by reservation), or head out on a leisurely bike ride along the iconic Strand Beach Path, which winds past the Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach. Alternatively, head inland for one of these four hikes near LA to be rewarded with sweeping views of city and sea. (Swing by Dogtown Coffee first to start your day with a little extra fuel for your trek.)

For a different kind of sweat, you may also utilize the state-of-the-art fitness center at Exhale, or sign up for a complimentary barre, cardio, or yoga class. Classes are held at limited capacity for your safety (which also offers the opportunity for more personalized training), and studios are thoroughly sanitized between classes. All you need to do is make a reservation for a class or time in the fitness center, bring your mask and your own water, and be ready for a challenge.

If you’re craving a more relaxing wellness experience, Exhale also offers a variety of spa treatments, including massage therapies, facials, nail services, and more. Like the fitness center and studios, all contact points in treatment rooms are thoroughly sanitized before and after each spa therapy, spa therapists will wear face masks and gloves throughout your treatment, and more. So, whether you opt for a customized Magic Facial, a therapeutic Flow Massage, or a Luxe Spa Manicure, you can unwind knowing your safety is top of mind.

After soaking up the sun in the great outdoors or retreating to our serene spa, enjoy a perfect summer cocktail at our newly renovated (and physically distanced) Jones Library and Ocean Terrace, then proceed to an indulgent farm-to-table dinner at our renowned eatery FIG. Tables and seating here have also been spaced out to ensure distancing, along with additional safety measures including mandatory diner screening and mask-wearing, a pouch to place masks in while dining, disposable or QR code menus, and disinfection of all touchpoints on the table between diners.

While all indoor dining will remain closed through July 21, FIG restaurant and the Lobby Lounge both feature plenty of outdoor seating — and luckily, in Southern California, there’s no better way to dine than al fresco.

Following a day filled with outdoor activities, relaxation under warm rays, and sublime dining experiences right here on-property, you’ll be ready to retreat back to your blissful accommodations and rest up for more experiences among the oceanfront paradise we call home. No matter what your escape here has in store, our aim is to provide you with the rejuvenating, safe getaway you could certainly use after the past several months.

From our Fairmont Miramar family to yours, we’ve missed you, and we can’t wait to welcome you back to our spacious Santa Monica hideaway.
